Privacy Policy

How this website handles visitor data. Spoiler: Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Fonts. That is it. The Detour plugin itself collects nothing.

This Privacy Policy describes how Centreville Tech LLC (“we”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit detourwp.com (the “Site”). It does not cover the Detour WordPress plugin itself, which makes no outbound network requests of its own and runs entirely on your own server. See the FAQ for plugin-specific privacy answers.

What we collect on this Site

When you visit the Site, we collect basic information through three third party services:

Google Analytics 4 records page views, referrers, approximate location, browser, device, and on-page interactions. The data is associated with a Google identifier and aggregated across our visitors. We use it to understand which pages people read and which content is working.

Google Search Console records the search queries that bring visitors to the Site, click-through rates, and indexing status. Search Console operates server-side via Google’s index of our pages; it does not place a tracker in your browser.

Google Fonts serves the typefaces this Site uses (Stardos Stencil, Oswald, IBM Plex Sans). When a font loads, your browser makes a request to Google’s servers, which means Google can see your IP address and the URL that requested the font.

We do not run our own analytics, our own tracking pixels, or any other third party scripts beyond the three above.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to identify returning visits and to aggregate sessions. We do not set any cookies of our own. The Detour plugin sets no cookies on a WordPress site that installs it.

How to opt out

If you would rather not be tracked, you have several options and we will not gate any content behind a tracker:

  • Use a content blocker such as uBlock Origin, AdGuard, Brave Shields, or Pi-hole. Google Analytics and Google Fonts are widely blocked by default in privacy-respecting setups. The Site renders correctly with a system fallback font when Google Fonts is blocked.
  • Use Google’s official Analytics opt-out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Use a browser that limits cross-site tracking by default, such as Firefox, Safari, or Brave.

The Site works without JavaScript and without web fonts.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent, or trade information about visitors. We do not run ad networks, retargeting pixels, marketing automation tags, session replay, fingerprinting, or A/B-testing trackers. We do not operate a newsletter, mailing list, or signup form on this Site.

Your data subject rights

Where applicable law (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and similar) gives you rights over the information we hold about you, you can exercise those rights by emailing hello@centrevilletech.com. For Google Analytics data specifically, you may also contact Google directly via policies.google.com/privacy.

Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

By using the Site, you consent to the data collection described above. If you do not consent, please do not use the Site, or block the third party services described above with a content blocker.
